I have been fortunate to make many trips to Vienna, and my favorite souvenir was a garter stitch jacket with a pleat at the back. This jacket is long gone, but it inspired this jacket. Instead of garter stitch, I opted to use an overall twisted stitch pattern which is also centered on the set-in sleeves.

I thought long and hard about the sizes for this jacket. The stitch pattern required an eight-inch difference between sizes. All of the sizes have an overlap of two inches for each front. (The sample shows the overlaps closed by two buttons in the neckband. You may omit the buttons to compensate for the difference between sizes.) Since it is a jacket and will be worn over clothes, I recommend selecting a size which will provide plenty of ease.

An applied I-cord in a contrast color is used for the bands.
