Wild Highlands Hap
This is a Tunisian crochet Hap. A Hap is a traditional shawl/lap blanket/baby blanket originating in the Shetland Islands. The word Hap means to cover and to warm. The color scheme of this hap was inspired by the wild highlands of Scotland, with the blue being the loch/lake, the light blue representing the cladash/shore, then moving up into the fraoch/heather, and finally into the beinn/mountains. The center square is worked on the bias in straight Tunisian crochet and the feather and fan lace and ruffled edge are worked in Tunisian in the round. This hap has been created in Berroco Ultra Wool Fine fingering weight yarn (100% wool, 100g/400yds/366m per skein). A total of 2750 yards is required, as pictured: 1100 yds in Ocean, 170 yards in Forget Me Not, 230 yards in Driftwood, 170 yards in Lavender, 190 yards in Heather, 280 yards in Rosemary, 380 yards in Stonewashed, and 230 yards in Pine.
