Wild roses flourish in the cool and moist shaded trails in Great Basin National Park. During spring and summer, you can see the five-petalled pink flowers but it is in the fall that their beauty shines. The plump red rose hips dot the foliage as well as the bare stalks after the leaves have fallen. The hips, high in vitamin C, were eaten and made into tea by Native Americans and European Pioneers. This artwork was produced under the Darwin Lambert Artist in Residence Program at Great Basin National Park.
