Wild Rosehip is a beautiful, filigree-like shawl, with the body adorned by a pattern of delicate branches of wild rose berries. The lace/colorwork is light, graceful and easier than it looks!
The beautiful border adds a refined yet organic touch to the overall look, making the shawl absolutely exquisite and elegant.

Construction
Wild Rosehips is a top-down triangular shawl started with an i-cord tab, then continued with the normal increases along the sides and the center. The right and the left sides of the shawl are perfectly symmetrical and are divided by a single stitch worked in CC only. Lateral i-cords give a finished look with no effort.
The shawl is covered in a filigree of rose berries over a dark background. The background is worked with two yarns held together and the motif is obtained using only one of the two yarns. The berries look like nupps, but are actually a sort of “dip stitch” that is much easier to work (Tutorial included in the pattern).

Sizes: This pattern is adjustable. It’s possible to achieve different sizes simply working more or less repeats of the various part of the pattern.

Finished measurements of my sample: Wingspan 165 cm / 66”; depth 75 cm/30”).
Note: My sample was made working 3 Body repeats and 2 repeats of the Border stitch.

Yarn
Note: The yardage below is for the sample size. If you work a smaller or bigger size, you may need a different amount.
MC: Miss Babs Moonglow (72% Kid Mohair, 28% Silk; 435 yds 400 m/50 g), col. Coal, approx 720 m/787 yds.
CC: Miss Babs Yearning (65% Merino wool, 35% Tussah silk; 1200 yds 1095m/185 gr), col. Spicy Papaya, approx 965 m/1055 yds.
Note: Choose two yarn colors with a good
contrast between them, possibly in solid or tonal colors. In my opinion, this design works at its best if MC is darker than CC.

Needles
One 80 cm / 32” circular needle (or straight needles if preferred) in size needed to obtain gauge.
Suggested needle size: 3.75 mm /US 5.

Notions
4 markers A.
18-30 markers B (the exact number depends on the shawl size).
Tapestry needle to weave in ends.
(Optional) 20-80 beads with 0.5cm/0.2” diam.(the exact number depends on the shawl size).

Gauge
22 stitches and 32 rows = 10x10 cm (4”) in berry stitch (see page 10) with both yarns held together, measured after blocking.
Note: Gauge is not critical for this project but may affect yardage and final measurements.
