Description
Wild Vines is a bias scarf/wrap that incorporates both knit and crochet stitches, alternating between knit and crochet in each section. The accessory comes with instructions for two width sizes, is written using US crochet terminology, and has left handed crochet pattern instructions. This design is in collaboration with Wild Hand & Philia Fiber Co. for the first Greater Philadelphia Yarn Crawl!

This pattern will be available for FREE with code, to crawl participants, that visit Wild Hand, until the end of day, on March 31st 2024 (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time).

Dimensions unblocked
Scarf - 8”W x 52”L {20cm x 132cm}
Shawl - 15”W x 57”L {38cm x 145cm}

Gauge (if doing a gauge swatch, it is important to do so with both stitch patterns together, in one swatch. Stitch gauge is more important than row gauge in this pattern. Alternate within the swatch, with a section of knitting, then a section of crochet, twice)

Knit Gauge: (unblocked)
24 sts x 30 rows = 4” {10cm} in Stockinette Stitch or Garter Stitch
Crochet Gauge: (unblocked)
19 sts x 8 rows = 4” {10cm} 6 ⅓ Double Crochet Clusters

Materials:
Yarn: Philia Fiber Co. - Keepsake Base
Yardage: 394 - 788 yards {360m - 720m} of sock /fingering weight yarn (If using two colors for the Shawl size, it is recommended to have at least 2 skeins of MC for the knit section, and 1 skein of your CC for the crochet section)
Needle/Hook: E hook {3.5mm}
US 5 {3.75mm} circular needle 16” - 24”{41cm - 60cm}
Stitch Markers (1)
Measuring tape
Scissors
Tapestry needle

Notes:
Instructions for the larger size shawl, and the different sections, are found in parentheses ( ).
Metric information will be found in brackets { }
There are two options for the knit sections. Option 1 is StSt (knit one row, purl one row). Option 2 is Garter St (knit every row). Changes for Option 2 will be in brackets . The purl rows will be substituted for knit rows, to maintain a garter st pattern. The pattern is very versatile. Make the knit/crochet sections as long, or as short as prefered. The dimensions are more suggestions, and similar to the sample. If there is more crochet fabric than knit in your scarf/shawl I recommend adding an additional skein. Crochet uses up more yarn.
