The Willow Slouchy Hat has a wide ribbed brim that is worked first. The top of the hat is then worked into the brim and has just the right amount slouch for a casual look. The pattern includes instructions for three sizes teen/adult small (head measuring 20”-22”), adult medium (21”-23”), and adult large (22”-24”). It can be made with bulky weight 5 yarn or two strands of worsted weight yarn. Mine were made with two strands of Lion Brand Heartland yarn. Two strands of aran weight 4 yarn will work, but you will need to make adjustments to meet gauge and it will affect the drape, or ‘slouchiness’, of your hat.
The pattern uses the herringbone double crochet stitch, if you are unfamiliar with it, there are step by step written instructions.

You will need:
Yarn - approx 140 (small), 150(medium), 160(large) yds of bulky weight or 285(small), 300(medium), 315(large) yds of worsted weight
Hook - U.S. H/5 mm for ribbing or any hook to meet gauge
U.S. M/9 mm for top or any hook to meet gauge
Needle
Optional - thread that matches your yarn color. I just use the yarn
One button approx 1 3/4 ”
