The Willow Messy Bun hat can be slid over your head, or you can unbutton it, wrap it around your head and then button it back up. This makes it easier to keep your hair in place when you put it on and makes the size adjustable. So, while It is sized for an adult woman with a head circumference of 21-22 inches, it can accommodate a size up or down. The ribbing around the brim of the hat is worked first and then turned 90 degrees and the top is worked into the ends of those rows (see photos).

It uses approximately 100 yards of bulky weight 5 yarn or 185 yards of a worsted weight yarn with two strands worked together. Two strands of a heavier weight 4 aran yarn will likely be too heavy.
