Wilwarin Stole
This pattern is
available from knitpicks.com
for $7.99.
“Wilwarin” is the word for “butterfly” in the Elvin Quenya language created by J. R. R. Tolkien. Delicate cables border delightful butterfly motifs adorning the lower edging of Wilwarin, while the soft texture of open lacework caresses the shoulders.
Wilwarin is a rectangular stole that starts with a butterfly motif edging knit lengthwise. It continues with the lacy body widthwise by picking up stitches on the right side of the edging. The unique lacework on the body of the piece is achieved by using two drastically different sized needles to create a highly textured and airy piece, symbolizing the fluttery wings of a butterfly.
