This is a pattern for either a wimple or hood in ANY WEIGHT YARN! I’ve done this in lace weight, bulky weight, and every size in between.

This makes a great Christmas present! It’s a fairly quick item to knit, and it’s something you can’t go out and buy in the stores.

A woman’s wimple in knitting worsted takes about 550 yards. For a man’s hood in knitting worsted I’d allow 700 to 800 yards.
