Winchester Rose
Shall we take a turn in the garden -- Jane Austen
This is the second of three patterns that make up The everyday Roses Colection.
Yarn
Main colour 100 grams /400m / 437 yards of fingering weight yarn in a neutral or contrast.
Contrast colours 6 x 20 gram skeins / 80 m / 87 yards or 12 x 10 gram skeins / 40m / 43 yards of fingering weight yarn in different colours.
Scarf sample used a 6 x 20 gram mini set and a 100 gram skein from Woolly Mammoth yarns in ‘Christmas mini set’ and ‘Winters Eve’ 50% BFL and 50% Cheviot.
Wrap sample used 12 x 10 gram minis from Wild Rose Yarns and a 100 gram undyed skein 75% merino and 25% nylon.
Needles
4mm / US 6 needle or size to obtain gauge
4.5mm / US 7 needle for bind off.
Gauge
20 sts and 42 rows per 10cm / 4inches in garter stitch after blocking.
Notions
Stitch Markers, both ring and locking, stitch holder or spare needle and a tapestry needle. I also found a set of scales useful, to get the most out of my yarn.
Sizes
Wrap 150 cm / 60 inches x 40 cm / 16 inches.
Scarf 180 cm / 71 inches x 33 cm / 13 inches.
Pattern notes
Worked flat, this scarf (wrap) is a great way to use minis and partial skeins and is very adaptable.
It starts with 4 (5) garter squares joined together to create the width of your scarf (wrap), then a chevron pattern is worked echoing the edges of the squares.
this pattern has been tested.
