Wind spinner Green Guy
This is a pattern for a windspinner in the shape of a funny guy.
It’s a written pattern with several pictures to help explain some details.
The level is advanced. The pattern involves quite a lot of sewing, experience with amigurumi is advised.
I used acrylic yarn (Stylecraft Special dk or Scheepjes colourcrafter, which is about 295 m/322 yards per 100 gram) and hooksize 3.0 and 3.5, for some parts 4.5 and 2.0.
My windspinner was about 21 cm/8.25 inches high and 8 cm/3.15 inches wide.
Materials you need:
- yarn: about 82 yards of green yarn in one or two shades,
a bit of white, black and very dark green yarn
- stuffing
- a cotton swab or a short piece of wire, to strengthen the neck
- a thread for hanging the windspinner. You can use nylon thread, or a single string of the yarn you used for the windspinner itself.
- optional: beads
- optional: a brush to give some parts a more hairy appearance.
Stitches and (US-)terms used in this pattern:
- mc = magic circle
- foundation chain
- ch = chainstitch
- sc = single crochet
- slst = slipstitch
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- trc = treble crochet
- yoslst = yarnover slipstitch
- incr = increase
- decr = decrease
- flo = frontloop only
- blo = backloop only
—This pattern is also tested with Drops alpaca and hooksizes 2.5 and 3.0. The final result with that yarn was 16 cm/6.3 inches high and about 7.5 cm/3 inches wide.
In addition, you will need some thinner yarn for the hands.
I hope you like my windspinners!
