This is a pattern for lace weight to fingering weight yarn, merino, cashmere, alpaca, kid mohair are all suitable options. (It also looks fabulous if beaded, though I have not provided instructions for beading at this point.)

I suggest using 3-4mm ( US 3-6 ) needles for it. You will also need 2 stitch markers for marking the center stitch.

To knit this shawl you will need to:

  • do a provisional cast on - it is explained in the pattern;
  • knit;
  • purl;
  • yarn over;
  • do a single decrease leaning left or right;
  • do a double decrease.

This is a charted pattern. It has been voted suitable for beginner lace knitters for following reasons:

  • easy to read lace in both - body and border patterns
  • easy to memorize the pattern
  • has no complex stitches
  • easy to pick up and knit without getting lost in the pattern.

This shawl has been test knit in a variety of yarns, thanks to my fantastic test knitters! The project pages should be linked to pattern soon enough.

Please, share your finished objects :) It is amazing to see how the same design looks in various yarns, done by different people, giving inspiration to other knitters.
