These stranded colourwork mitts are worked alike to produce a fraternal pair with slightly different patterning on front and back. Worked in the round from the cuff up with a thumb gusset, they work up quickly using small amounts of fingering weight yarn making them ideal for using up leftovers from other projects. When worked to pattern tension of 7.5 sts per inch (2.5cm) they will fit an average size woman’s hand. The finished mitts will measure 7.5” (19cm) around the palm just above the thumb.

You will need approximately 120 yards (110m) of fingering weight yarn in colour A (shown in green in the photo), and approximately 75 yards (70m) of fingering weight yarn in colour B (shown in white in the photo), 2.75mm (US2) knitting needles for knitting in the round (or size needed to achieve tension), 2 stitch markers, a stitch holder or waste yarn, and a darning needle.

The colourwork design is charted only. The mitts are worked from the cuff up, with a thumb gusset.

You need to be able to:- work in the round, work stranded colourwork technique, read a colourwork chart, work simple increases.
