Winding Wool came about after constant requests by my sister for a cropped capelet/wrap, and once I got the idea for this pattern in my head, I was more than happy to oblige.

The name came from the poem Winding Wool by Robert W. Service, who perfectly captured the comfort and familiarity of what knitting is all about. One of my favorite elements of knitting is cables, and I love the way they twist and wind around, so I decided to comlpetely cover the garment with them. Despite the complicated look, the cable pattern really is quite easy to follow once you’ve done a few rows.

When choosing a size to knit, keep in mind that the patten has about 9-12 inches of stretch built in. If you want something more snug, choose the size closest to your measurements. If you want something a bit looser, choose the next size up from your measurements.
