Window Sash Scarf
This pattern is a variant of corner-to-corner crochet which has an openwork section in the middle. It is worked flat, with textured edges. It is intended to be a somewhat simple pattern which I use to introduce my students to C2C crochet shaping, and the use of gaps. It was inspired by the wooden window sash in my parents’ kitchen in rural Ireland!
The scarf has a simple construction with basic C2C shaping at the start and end. The sides of the body are done in C2C blocks and staggered to produce the diagonal edges. It works up to be highly textured and has good drape due to the openwork. The completed scarf length is 60 inches or 152 cm.
I’ve included a crochet chart on page 5.
