This beautiful lace Infinity Scarf is easy to make! It requires knowledge of lace knitting, circular knitting, and crochet. The scarf is worked in the round on circular needles. This makes the lace motif in the body of the scarf even simpler to do!
The lace pattern for the “sweeps” in the body of the scarf is taken from a pattern by Rita Weiss called “Fancy”. I have modified her instructions in two ways: by rewriting the pattern to work with circular knitting, and, I have replaced the S1K1PSSO instruction with the simpler K2togTBL. The results are the same!
The pattern is worked on every row. The ‘K2togTBL’ instruction is important, because the TBL part lays the stitch in such a way as to make a flat chain on the “sweeps”.
The ruffle is optional, although I recommend adding it. A ruffled edge helps keep the scarf from rolling inward while wearing.
My scarf measured 44” around, by 8” wide (without ruffles).
