This design comes along in two flavors, for different seasons.

The Spring ‘rainbow’ version was inspired by an April sky where the rainbow got a bit rearranged and torn apart by the storm. It is aptly named because it uses Skudderia (ex ‘Das Regenbogenschaf’, the re-branding only took place during testknitting) Pinta, including one of their famous ‘Chaos’ multi-color shades for edgings, and Pinta leftovers of some rainbow colors for the front stripes.

The winter version uses tweed yarn, with the stripes picking up the tweed flecks.

While back and sleeves are a rather ‘mindless’ TV knit in Stockinette, the cardigan features a special construction with a combined fronts/ back neck section, where both will be knitted simultaneously in long, long rows, with only occasional wraps and turns. The back neck area gets contracted by a special stitch, so that it does not even have half the height of the two fronts.
The random stripes underline this construction, but the cardigan could also be worked in one color only.

Skill level: *** (3 out of 5) – unusual construction, but lots of pure Stockinette in between. The most complicated task is actually the color selection :-)

Yarn requirements:
1400/ 1500/ 1600/ 1700/ 1800 meters of the main color (MC)
CCs:
* 200-400m overall : approx. 20m per stripe (12/ 14/ 16/ 18/ 20 stripes max, depending on size, some stripes might be skipped)
and
* 50-100m for hem and sleeve edgings

Sizes: Back width for sizes S/ M/ L/ XL/ XXL is
51/ 57/ 62/ 68/ 74 cm. The cardigan was designed to be worn with 5-10cm ease.
