What inspired me? The loving energy of the sea. It gives me strength, inspiration, and total relaxation. My roots are strongly connected to coastal people and the coastal culture, so I always long for the sea.
As soon as I saw the beautiful yarn in the colorway “Watercolor” I could almost smell the aroma of the salty sea and the wind which blew in my face. In my body, I could feel the waves crashing against the rocks. And what is more beautiful than the sun shining and glittering on the water? I hope that you will also have a similar experience when you knit this shawl and have the same feeling every time you wear it.

The Windy Waves Shawl is knitted from the neck down. It is an easy and quick knit, worked in garter stitch and a single lace pattern. Each right-side row increases by 4 stitches, and each wrong-side row increases by 2 stitches. An i-cord bind-off makes the edge stable so it will not roll-up. Video-tutorial included. Gauge is not crucial for this project.

Materials
Needle: US size 4 / 3,5mm, 32” / 80cm circular needle. A long circular needle is recommended in order to accommodate a large number of stitches.
Yarns Used: approximately 390m / 427yds Enchanted Forest Fiber, Starry Sock, fingering weight, 75% superwash merino wool, 20% nylon, 5% stelina in the color “Watercolor”, 100g = 400m / 438yds per skein.
Gauge: 22 sts 28 rows = 4 x 4” / 10 x 10cm in Stockinette stitch. Gauge is not crucial for this project.
Final Measurements: Depth 14,5“/ 37cm. Wingspan 59“/ 150cm.
Notions: 4 stitch markers.

Hva inspirerte meg? Havets mektige energi. Den gir meg styrke, inspirasjon og ro. Røttene mine er sterkt knyttet til kysten og kystkulturen, og jeg lengter alltid etter havet. Da jeg så dette vakre garnet, kunne jeg nesten kjenne duften av det salte havet. De blanke sølvtrådene minnet meg om solen som skinner og glitrer på vannoverflaten. Windy Waves er et lite og elegant sjal som strikkes ovenfra og ned. Det er enkel og meditativ strikk. Mønsteret er en blanding av rillestrikk og enkelt hullmønster, noe som gjør det mykt og lunt. På hver rettpinne økes det fire masker, og på hver vrangpinne økes det to masker. I-cordavfelling gjør kanten stabil og gir en delikat avslutning på sjalet.
