Wine Sock Gift Bags
I love giving wine as a Christmas gift. To make it a little more special I designed a quick and easy pattern for a knitted wine sock that makes the perfect gift bag for all my wine gift giving!
For larger bottles you can try the following modification:
The cable pattern is over 6 stitches and I added 5 stitches in between (1 purl 3 knit 1 purl) this makes 11 stitches. There are 4 cables, 3 rib sections and then a 4 stitch purled front piece for my pattern. I would check your gauge, measure the bottle you are trying to make the wine sock for, and then add cables/rib sections to meet that circumference. (So you would be adding multiples of 11 stitches to add a cable and rib section)
You should only need to add about 2 or 3 more cables/rib section, so you could cast on 65-76 stitches. For the decreases I found that the decrease row needed to be alternated with a knit row, I think you should be able to follow the same pattern. If you are adding 2 cable/ribs (CO 65 or 76 stitches you would end up with 8 stitches at the end.) For this part, you would need to just watch how it was progressing and adjust the frequency of decreases more or less to get the flat bottom.
