This is a PDF knit pattern to make a cable hat in both regular bulky (such as Malabrigo Chunky) yarn and LIGHT super bulky (such as Manos del Uruguay Franca) yarn. The stitch pattern reminds me of an old-school wine opener or corkscrew, hence the name.

The pattern includes 2 sizes (teen/adult and large adult) and 2 variations (beanie and slouch).

Bulky Knitting Needles:
US #7 (4.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
US #10.5 (6.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle
A set of DPNs in same size used for body (optional), or use magic loop method

Light Super Bulky Knitting Needles:
US #10 (6 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle, or size needed to obtain gauge (depends on size)
US #10.5 (6.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle, or size needed to obtain gauge (depends on size)
US #13 (9 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle
US #15 (10 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular knitting needle
A set of DPNs in same size used for body (optional), or use magic loop method

NOTE: The pattern also includes instructions to make a medium/large beanie in regular super bulky weight yarn (such as Malabrigo Rasta). This is a perfect men’s size beanie.
