Winter Dawn
This pattern was included in SweetGeorgia’s Limited-Edition Advent Calendar 2017 - a set of 20 mini-skeins of 25-yards each with daily pattern clues.
Intuitively flowing from one transition to the next, like the way the winter sun dawns above a horizon of evergreens, this accessory brings rich colour to the forefront. Elegant and softly textural, the almost free-form stitches bring both comfort and ease to your knitting escape.
This triangular shawl takes on a winged shape by working 4 increases every right-side row and 2 increases every wrong-side row, making it longer and a little shallower than a traditional triangular shawl.
The pattern is written to utilize every bit of the yarn from the 20-mini-skein set, so you’ll join the next colour, when indicated (or wherever you prefer), by either knitting-in or wet-splicing your ends (or whatever mid-row yarn join you prefer. See our website for tutorials). Some rows, you may run short on yarn, while others you may have leftover - just keep going until each colour yarns out (the overall size will not be affected dramatically). The results are very subtle, but wonderfully fluid and rustic, with something that will be utterly unique and special to you.
