As a child our family room couch was upholstered with flame stitch — a colorful fabric with a deep zigzagging pattern. The stitch pattern on this this stranded colorwork hat was inspired by that fabric, reinterpreted as a graphic two-color design. To get that colorful, flame stitch effect, try using a variegated yarn for CC.
Winter Flames knits up quickly in Black Trillium Fibres Quadra. a super bulky yarn. It is worked from the bottom up on double pointed-needles. If preferred, the body of this hat may be worked on a 16” circular before switching to double-pointed needles for the crown decreases.
The hat measures 8.5” (21.5cm) to the top of the crown, not including the ribbing.
