Winter Garden
While warm enough to keep off winter chills, this hat, with its embroidered blooms, can’t help but make one think of springtime. The flowers, stems, and leaves, which are embroidered after the hat is finished and blocked, add pleasing pops of spring color to the neutral background.
This hat is worked from the bottom up. The I-cord loop at the top is worked from the live stitches remaining after working final decreases.

The instructions for working the bobbles are not included in the pattern. You may work any type of bobble you choose, but here are instructions for knitting the bobbles shown in the photos on this page:
-
Knit in the front, back, front, back, front of the same stitch. Do not slip the stitch off of your needle until the last time you knit in the front of the stitch. You should now have a group of five stitches.
-
Turn your work and purl the five stitches.

-
Turn your work one last time and knit the five stitches together. You should now have one bobble stitch on your needle.
Note: This hat was inspired by a hat I saw for sale in a catalog of women’s clothing. I liked the look of the hat so much, that I decided to recreate it.
