Winter Gingham can be worn as a shawl or a scarf. The exposed floats on the reverse contrast beautifully with the neat gingham squares. Because Woolfolk Sno twists two colors of Tynd, alternating these two yarns creates a natural gingham fabric.

Winter Gingham is knit in the round. You knit the full length on every row and can adjust the width from a slim scarf to a wide shawl simply by binding off. 1 skein of 2 colors of Tynd and 2 skeins of Sno will result in a 10-12” width scarf.

Then just choose whether to trim the steeked width edges with a structured braided fringe or with the more bohemian loose fringe.

You do not have to use Woolfolk Tynd and Sno (although they were the inspiration), any three yarns where two solid colors are incorporated into the third will have a similar result. For example: Brooklyn Tweed’s Loft works using Caraway as the CC and Hayloft and Trufflehunt as the MCs; or Narwhal with Sweatshirt and Fossil, and so on.
