Winter Grass Socks
Inspired by nature in winter, this is my very first pattern. Having knitted and designed my own stuff for 30+ years, you might say it is about time I wrote some of it down.
So I did, and I hope these socks will give you joy both to knit and wear. I always say handknit woollen socks feel like a permanent hug to your feet.
Sizes
I have made two size options:
S/M (76 stitches wide) fits sizes 36-40 approximately
M/L (80 stitches wide) fits sizes 41-45 approximately
You can adjust the length as you please.
I find that the smaller size is good for women, and the larger size is good for the men who generally have wider feet.
Please note that sizes will depend on needle size and knitting tension. This also means that sizes can be adjusted by changing needle size up or down respectively.
Yardage by colour
MC: Approx. 60-70 g / 250-300 m (275-330 yards)
CC: Approx. 40-50 g / 170-210 m (185-230 yards)
Needles
I prefer to knit socks using double-pointed needles (DPN), but the pattern can of course be knit using magic loop needles (MLN) as well.
Simply exchange DPN 1+2 with MLN 1
and exchange DPN 3+4 with MLN 2
Please feel free to share any pictures of your projects using the hashtag #wintergrasssocks (three s’s :-) ) on instagram - it makes me so happy to see your creations!
