WINTER HAWTHORN is the big brother to fingering weight Hawthorn sweater pattern, featuring similar concept of colourwork in a heavier DK / worsted weight yarn. This is a stranded colourwork sweater with a top-down construction, round yoke and a generous positive ease at the chest. Starting with the cast on for yoke, the sweater is worked seamlessly top down, using short rows to shape the neckline. After the yoke, the body and sleeves are separated while casting on stitches for underarms, and then worked separately in the round. Neckband ribbing is worked at the end, which gives you the flexibility to decide what kind of neckline you would like to make.

As the sweater is knitted top-down, you can also decide on the length as you go. The pattern and the yardage have been given for an average height of 165 cm / 5‘5’’. Please adjust the lengths according to your individual body measurements.

The measurements listed below are for the final sweater after washing and blocking. This pattern comes in 10 sizes (1, 2, 3) (4, 5, 6, 7) (8, 9, 10) with finished sweater bust circumference measuring (86.5, 93.5, 100) (106.5, 113.5, 120, 126.5) (133.5, 146.5, 160) cm / (34.5, 37.5, 40) (42.5, 45.5, 48, 50.5) (53.5, 58.5, 64) inches and is meant to be worn with a positive ease of 10-25 cm / 4-10 inches at the bust. The wearer is 162 cm / 5‘4’’ with 88 cm / 35.25 inches bust. The sample is shown in size 5 with 25.5 cm / 10.25 inches of positive ease in the bust.

Manchelopis from The Wooldreamers (100 g - 230 meters / 252 yards). The sample is made with Pardo Natural as MC and Gris Claro Natural as CC

YARN SUBSTITUTION:
If you decide to use spun yarn for this project, it might be easier to achieve gauge with a worsted weight yarn. While Machelopis falls under DK, it is an unspun and airy yarn that knits up more like a worsted weight
