Update 10-26-2013: Here is a link to the updated chart that CaptainRachel made!

Also, I want to credit http://www.needlework.com/xstitch1pats/html/old_english_a... where I got the pattern for the letters. The kerning and spacing still took a lot of work.
Update 10-14-2013: User CaptainRachel has made a chart for the lettering that has both the right and wrong side stitches on it for each row (for double knitting the reversable letters)- please check it out on her project page! http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CaptainRachel/winter-is-c...
I used Vanna’s Choice Solids (2 skeins of each color) with a US 4 needle but I would recommend using a lighter yarn weight than what I used as the one I made does not drape well but if I had used the size needles appropriate for the yarn it would have been way too wide.
The scarf is double knit and fully reversible. I knit the scarf so that the words were in the correct direction both ways. In order to do this you would read the “Winter is Coming” chart left to right on the right side stitches and right to left on the wrong side stitches. The wolves are on the ends of the scarf facing outward.
Here are some links for reversible knitting:

I designed this scarf for my brother in law who loves the book series A Song of Ice and Fire. The banner of the main characters’ is a gray direwolf on a white background. I am adding this pattern because I had a request for the chart I made for the direwolf.
I will try and get a picture of the finished scarf soon.
