In the Pacific Northwest the winter solstice means a striking, low sun passing the horizon--often peaking through dark, shadowy trees. The angles are extreme. It can also be the most trying time of year when it seems the sun barely graces us with its presence. This is the time of year we need bright colors and cozy knits to help us through! In the spirit of the solstice, I was inspired to grab a beautiful handpaint and create a warm, squishy hat that showed the duality of the light at this time. This colorway of Three Irish Girls Glenhaven Cashmerino Worsted, High Seas, stood out the moment we opened the box as if it was meant for the job. Dubbed “the prettiest skein that’s ever graced A Grand Yarn,” it knit up even more beautifully.
