This pattern is a great stash buster, and is suitable for home spun worsted weight yarn. The first (redish) example was knit with 100 yards of home spun merino and about 50 additional yards of Patons Classic Wool Merino. The second example (blue/purple) was made with a single skein of Loin Wool Prints.. (a 143 yard skein).

The Cap has an unusual, bonnet like shape, and is finished in the back of the head, not the top. The cap is started knitting a flat, cabled band, that is grafted (just 10 stitches) into circle, and then is finished knitting in the round. Finishing with a pompom or tassel is optional (no directions for these)

Row gauge is not critical, and directions include how to make adjustments if the row gauge is not spot on.
