After spending many hours in the cold under a sky full of magically twinkling stars in the north of Sweden, we were lucky to see northern lights, from faint to breathtaking marvellous. This unforgettable experience inspired me to a new mittens pattern, which I therefore called Winter Stars Mittens.

Using DK weight yarn, these mittens are quickly knitted and durable. They are perfect to keep you warm on a walk or training in rainy, windy and cold weather.

The following skills are required:
• Old Norwegian Cast On
• Knitting in the round using DPNs or the Magic Loop method
• Two-color stranding
• Basic increases (make one stitch right or left)
• Basic decreases (k2tog, ssk, SK2P)
• Backward loop cast-on
• Picking up stitches

Circumference: 20cm
Length: ca. 25 cm / adjustable

You can adjust the size by using different yarn and needle sizes.

I knit my mittens using double pointed needles.
Of course you can also use the Magic Loop
method.
