A reversible hat solves two problems: no need to choose just one colour for your hat, you CAN have two, and it makes a light weight lacy hat doubly warm!
Beginning with a provisional cast on, one half of the hat is knit, complete with a pretty lacy pine motif, then it is picked up again at the cast on and a second hat is knit in the opposite direction, again with the lace motif. The trees are offset so that no matter which way you choose to wear it, the alternate colour shows through the lace, highlighting those lovely trees.
You will use a 3.0mm x 40cm circular for the body of the hat, and then switch to 3.0mm dpns as you decrease the stitches at the crown.
I would strongly suggest choosing yarns that are either solids or semi-solids, so that the lace pattern shows well.
I used just a little less than half of each ball of yarn, so you can make two matching hats out of the required yarn.
