One of the great pleasures in life is to start a new knitting project!
I had lots of left-over yarn from working the
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/winterday-pullover, and as I also enjoyed so much the lace-pattern of the yoke of the sweater, I was eager to work it one more time.
When I had made my sketch and calculation it was such a pleasure to start! A nice knitting project really helps difficult times stay away for a moment.

Design and construction
This crescent-shaped shawl features lots of lovely lace, reminding of frost roses, frozen leaves, snowflakes….
The construction is top-down, starting from a garter tab.
The shawl is worked in 4 sections: stockinette, followed by lace-pattern, stockinette, and ending with a lace-patterned border.

Materials
A note about the choice of yarn: as this was what I had available I worked the shawl in Drops Brushed Alpace Silk. If I could go to my favourite LYS I might have chosen a merino/silk with a great stitch-definition to show off the lace-pattern even better. At least, this is a thought for a second shawl someday in the future.
You could use any yarn that knits up to gauge.

If using DROPS “Brushed Alpace Silk”, you will need approximately 400 m/436 yards to work the shawl. Needles: a pair of dpn’s, (or straight needles), size 4.5 mm/US7 to work the set-up of the centre neck. After the set-up you change to a circular needle 80 - 100 cm/32 - 40”, size 4.5 mm/US7. Use the needle size needed to obtain gauge! Notions: 2 removable stitch-markers (or 10, if you want to place markers between each pattern-repeat). Separate holders. Tapestry needle. Blocking tools.

Wingspan 130 cm/51”.
Height at spine: 50 cm/20”.

Gauge
19 sts and 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”.
