These lovely little accessories are like knitted jewelry, a colorful accent to peek out from under your sleeves while they keep your wrists warm. I was inspired by winters and celebrations of long ago - the colors are reminiscent of fading fallen leaves, bright berries and the sparkle of snow in the deep, quiet green of Druid forests. Metallic accents lend them a touch of Medieval richness, making these wristlets as suitable for court as for the hunt! This design would be lovely in many color combinations, and the leaf motif is at home in any season. This pattern now includes charts and yarn requirements for both the original Evergreen colorway and the Snowy colorway.

Wristlets are easy to knit – they’re simply a tube knitted in the round with no shaping. Wintertide Wristlets are knitted in stranded stockinette colorwork from a chart, with written instructions for the lace and ribbed edgings. They can be knit on double points, two circulars or with the Magic Loop method. Metallic yarn is used to add sparkle and richness, but isn’t necessary – you could substitute a contrasting shade of your chosen yarn. This design uses small amounts of several colors of fingering or sock weight yarn so are a great project for leftovers. You can use more or fewer colors as you wish – small projects like this are a great opportunity for playing with colors, so have fun!

Skills required:
• Knit and purl stitches
• Simple right and left leaning decreases (K2tog and SSK)
• Yarn overs
• Stranded color stockinette knitting
• Knitting small circumferences in the round

Happy knitting!
