I have been wanting to make mittens like I make socks for a while: Toe up, or perhaps that would be called ‘fingertip down’?
This construction let’s you try them on as you go, plus you can make the cuff as long as you like when you get there!

They work up quick in chunky yarn, so go ahead and make some last minute gifts and make sure your loved ones will have warm fingers on upcoming winter-walks.

Perfect for thick and thin handspun, or commercially made chunky yarn.

Yarn
Hand spun thick and thin yarn
or commercial yarn (chunky weight) that works up to suggested gauge such as

• Malabrigo Chunky
• Cascade Superwash 128
• Madeline Tosh Chunky

approx 120 - 160 yds of chunky weight yarn

Needles
US 10 (6 mm) 24”/ 60cm DPNs or needles for preferred method of working in small circumference,
or size to obtain gauge

Gauge
14 sts and 22 rows = 4” in stockinette st
