Wintry Mix Mitts
These cute mitts combine a variety of winter motifs and are perfect for this time of year! Knit in a versatile sport weight alpaca and wool blend, these knit up surprisingly quick. This pattern uses three colors of yarn, though you can combine as many colors as you’d like if you’re feeling adventurous!
Skills required are: Small diameter circular knitting, increasing, and stranded colorwork. A general knowledge of stranding techniques like color dominance and managing floats is helpful.
Size: Women’s Small (7”), Medium/Large (7.5”), Extra Large (8”); measure around palm above thumb. Mitts are designed to be worn with a ½” negative ease for a cozy fit and are sized up and down by adjusting gauge.
Yarn: Sport weight yarn in three colors; MC (100 yds), CC1 (75 yds) , and CC2 (60 yds)
Needles: Use DPNs or a long circular needle if you are comfortable with the Magic Loop technique.
Small: US 0 (2.0 mm) & US 1 (2.25 mm)
Medium/Large: US 1 (2.25 mm) & US 2 (2.75 mm)
Extra Large: US 1 (2.25 mm) & US 3 (3.25 mm)
Gauge: Measure on larger needles, in stranded pattern, before washing
Small: 34 sts = 4 inches
Medium/Large: 32 sts = 4 inches
Extra Large: 30 sts = 4 inches
