Experiment with different lengths and widths according to your hair length and texture.

The free pattern describes how to embed the wire between two layers. You can use any type of stitch. The pattern suggests double crochet stitches. The first pink one above uses Tunisian crochet “knit”stitch

If you use thicker yarn, just make the band single thickness and crochet the wire around outer edge, rather than embed it.

This technique of attaching the wire along the outer edge (rather than embedding inside) is more suitable for bulky and chunky yarns.

Wired bun maker & heatless curls hair wrap
Wired crochet bun maker. Easy project. Great way to use up yarn remnants. Flat crafting wire is used to maintain shape.
The pattern is available free on my blog. Great for heatless, overnight curls, too.
You can use any yarn weight and hook to match yarn. I used size 3 yarn with a 4.5mm hook for the green one in the pattern.
If you choose a bulky or chunky yarn you should make the bun maker single-thickness and then crochet the wire around the outer edge. This will prevent the bun maker from getting too heavy for your hair.
