Wise Maid is a traditional Irish tune, also known as All Around the World. This jaunty melody is sure to lift the spirits and get toes a-tapping.

Wise Maid is a top-down, crescent shawl whose lace pattern evokes images of tiny hearts to wrap you in love.

It begins with a narrow garter tab at the centre-back neck. Increases are worked on both RS and WS rows, just inside the top garter border (extensions of the initial garter tab).

The lace stitch pattern includes unbalanced increases and decreases so a table is provided listing stitch counts for every row. The bottom edging is knit on at right angles to the main pattern.

Pattern stitches are charted, with written directions provided.
