If I were pregnant with a son, my wishes for him would be:

~ persistence ~ to have the ability to follow through, to be persistent in his relationships, in his work, and in building his skills ~ to persevere in life
~ kindness ~ to be kind to others even when they aren’t kind to him; to be kind to himself ~ to allow himself time to dream and breathe
~ courage ~ to be able to follow his dreams ~ courageous enough to recognize that success (in all of its forms) has many details that must be attended to and that some of these details can also be called chores
~ strength ~ to have the strength to follow his own morals and ethics ~ strong enough to forge his own life
~ flexibility ~ the ability to adapt and to adjust ~ to be able to meet life’s challenges
