Witches' Ladder Scarf
I’m always looking for creative ways to design 100% reversible scarves. I mean, when a scarf only looks great on one side, that’s a scarf that will only look great half the time!
The Witches’ Ladder stitch looks the same frontside and backside. This scarf uses squares of witches’ ladder stitch bordered by a reversible pattern similar to moss stitch.
Two strands of yarn are worked together – one variegated and one solid – for a quick project with beautiful color interplay.
Experience level: Beginner.
Gauge/Measurements: This stitch is very stretchy in any direction. Gauge is not crucial. The scarf shown, made using the materials listed below, is 7 inches wide x 56 inches long.
Materials
• Mary Maxim Fresh (290 yd/265 m per 100g/3.5 oz skein; 100% acrylic); 1 skein each of colors laguna (solid) and cool waters (variegated)
• Yarn substitution recommendation: DK weight yarn with an ombre and solid palette
• 6 mm/US 10 needles
• Yarn needle
