I needed a Christmas potholder and also wanted to learn intarsia. I thought knitting a potholder with an intarsia heart would be perfect for Christmas. I wanted a double thickness potholder and a potholder that would have a different stitch pattern on the front and back side. This also hides all of the sewn in yarn ends of the intarsia heart.

My potholder was slightly rectangular measuring 10.5 inches wide and 8 inches long.

Using other colors, this could be a nice gift for a bridal shower, birthday, or Mother’s Day.

Skills needed: intarsia, mattress stitch, following a more complicated stitch pattern (welted leaf pattern), reading a chart.
