This crescent-shape shawl is designed for worsted weight yarn but could be done in any weight.

My plan with this design was to incorporate 3 yarns, alternating each row. But it has been tested in a solid color and also a yarn that changes color in long lengths (like Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball and Zauberball Stärke 6 by Schoppel), all with fantastic results
