Wnuczek (pronounced vNOO-chek, roughly) brings the total of Polish words I know up to about 6—it means grandson, as this pullover is the companion piece to the Dziadzi (grandpa) pullover. It’s an equal opportunity sweater, though, and would look just lovely on a wnuczka too (that’s granddaughter—7!). Wnuczek is worked from the top down, with mistake rib around the yoke and slipped-stitch cables along the raglan lines. The mistake rib is carried down the sleeves and center front, while the cables travel down the body’s sides. Once you’ve got your stitch patterns established, you’ll be able to knit this one mostly from memory! Finish it off with a quick funnel neck for extra warmth and your little ones will stay cozy all winter.
