The Wolf Hat was inspired by the hard, dedicated work being done by all of the volunteers at Wolves Offered Life and Friendship (W.O.L.F) in the foothills of Northern Colorado. This facility takes in wolf hybrid animals and full-blooded wolves that would otherwise be euthanized as a result of illegal/irresponsible breeding and stewardship. At WOLF, these animals are given a second chance at life and friendship in safety.
I was recently able to visit WOLF with my friend and colleague Ali Pate, of Road Trip Sock Yarn, and we were impressed by the staff’s passion, dedication, and knowledge about the animals they protect. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this pattern will go towards supporting WOLF. The sample pictured was knit in a lusciously soft DK, hand-dyed by Road Trip Yarn, in colors inspired by the wolves and wolf-hybrids currently in residence there.
