Wolf Star Capelet
There’s something quietly magical about fall. Leaves changing color and drying out, then turning into a crunchy carpet underfoot; crisp morning air; seeing your warm breath rising in a fog around you; and of course, bundling up in cozy hand knits to survive the hoarfrost! It is my favorite time of year and I think this design really encapsulates what fall is to me.
This pattern is worked in a very unconventional way, bringing interest to the knit. The work is cast on for the hood, and worked to the desired length, then the hood is seamed inline with the knitting, and the yoke is picked up. The shoulder increases combine a few methods (the Contiguous Shoulder Method and allover increases) and then the work is split and worked as 2 panels for the remainder of the pattern. The edging and buttonholes are worked inline with the knitting. Then the kangaroo-pocket is worked separate and stitched to the front of the work. Finally, i-cords are added to the hood ends and tassels or pompom can be added to the cords for a little playful finish.
