I conceived of this pattern because I wanted to make a special gift for an old friend.

I’m really happy with the result, which is a lovely cabled-textured headband or ear warmer which would look good in solid as well as multi-coloured yarn.

I made mine with handspun from rainbow merino roving, that I n-plied to make a lovely Aran/Bulky weight yarn. However, any commercial or handspun yarn of that weight would be good for this project.

Gauge or tension isn’t really all that important, so just gather your materials and get started.

You will need:
1 x 100g ball of Aran/Bulky yarn (the softer the better)
1 x pair of 5mm knitting needles
1 x 5mm cabling needle (or any spare 5mm needle)
1 x tapestry needle

This knits up in just a few hours, so put the kettle on and enjoy :)
