This pattern was inspired by a diagram of a sock on a flyer originally published on January 19, 1941, in the Greek newspaper The Free Tribune, offering knitting designs for accessories that the Greek army’s General Headquarters deemed suitable for Greek soldiers.
Finished size: 9 inches (22.9 cm) foot circumference, 11 inches (27.9 cm) foot length Imperial
Yarn: Tracie Too, 100% wool yarn, sportweight, 395 yards (361 m)/113.4 gram (4 oz) skein, 2 skeins of Pearl Gray (MC), 1 skein of Natural (CC)
Needles: sizes 1 (2.25 mm), 1½ (2.5 mm), and 2½ (3 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Markers, tapestry needle
Gauge: 32 sts and 48 rnds = 4 inches (10.2 cm) in St st on middle-size needles
