WONDERFUL WOVEN TOTE
This bag uses 2 inexpensive yarns with the knit-weaving technique to make a stunning fabric. Weaving is especially suited to bags because it adds stability. The cotton weaving yarn makes a sturdy fabric and the Tamm Astracryl makes an easy knitting background that is available in many colors. The lined bottom and dowel-filled top edges also help make this bag sturdy as well as good looking. The bag is shown in contrasting Yarns but if knitted in yarns of similar colors it will look more genuinely cabled.
YARN, GAUGE, SIZE AND MACHINE:
The finished tote is about 13” wide and 10” deep. Any standard gauge Japanese machine with patterning ability may be used. Weaving gauge is 6 stitches/11.8 rows per inch. Gauge is not critical for this project.
WEAVING PATTERN:
Punch acard with the design on page 2O or another cable-like pattern.
