For this pattern, you will need to know the knit stitch and purl stitch. The top seam is worked in the Kitchener Stitch (directions included) for a seamless edge. The cables in the scarf use a cable needle free technique and the cables on the hood are made using the traditional method.

The scarf portion consists of 4 repeating rows and the hood portion is 8 repeating rows. It is recommended that you keep track of each row by using a row counter. Two strands of yarn are held together while knitting for a bulky result.

Sizing can be altered by using different weight yarn and changing the size of the knitting needles. Following the pattern below will create a hooded scarf that measures approximately 4.5 inches wide and 70 inches long and the hood measures 11 inches from scarf edge to top of head.
