Woodland Journey
As autumn breezes blow in, family time moves outdoors to the crisp air of the new season. The trees are embellished with vibrant leaves, and the forest begins to beckon. This asymmetrical triangular shawl pairs the ease of an autumn afternoon hike with the crisp colors of fall. The back-and-forth rhythm of the garter stitch is worked easily with increases and decreases on the edges to create a bias drape to the fabric. Color changes use slipped stitches to create a gradient effect between the shifting hues. The ease of this knit is mirrored in the finished product—the perfect accessory for your next Woodland Journey.
The six colors in the sample, although very different hues, are arranged by tone. To do this, I recommend photographing them with a black/white filter. C1 has the lightest tone (light gray in a black/white photo), working up to C6 which has the darkest tone (almost black in a black/white photo). This creates a gradient effect, despite the color differences. Of course, there’s no need to arrange them this way. High contrast colors paired next to each other will yield striking results!
This wrap was designed to use nearly all of the yardage within the kit for C4-C6. If you choose not to swatch, I recommend going down in needle size to be sure you have enough yardage.
