Woodland Vines Shawl is crescent shaped, beginning at top center back and worked down and outward. An expanding center panel echoes the design elements. The pattern contains directions for two versions: version 1 is appropriate for solid or tonal yarns, and for handpainted yarns with similar color values; version two is designed for two contrasting color yarns and has a slightly larger leaf pattern and different edging. The color effect was achieved by using two different skeins of handpainted yarn which contain the same colors; in each skein, a different color is predominant. I designed the shawl after viewing (with dismay) the overgrowth of vines in my backyard this summer.
